On Icetrays

I am often afraid that my silicone ice tray is leeching little flecks of silicone into my water. When i leave the tray unfilled for a while, a foggy residue(presumably water stains) forms on the black silicone surface. I fear that unless i rinse this coating off with some cold water before i put the ice into my glass, my water will be tainted, and I will be drinking silicone-water, and it'll taste funny. Once, I decided to forgo rinsing it before putting it into a glass of raspberry lemonade, and I didn't notice any of the silicone flecks that I'm so afraid of. Now I'm left wondering if I need to go through the effort of rinsing them at all. Nevertheless, I do it anyway, because I'm afraid that the color, or the taste, of the lemonade masked the silicone flecks.

This is a long-winded way of saying that I can almost understand the people in this world who refuse to do or interact with anything outside of their comfort zone. Or, at least, I can begin to understand them. A lot of the evil in this world comes from the fear of the unknown. Poorly funded education leads to a fearful populace, people who are terrified to leave their homes due to some unknown force. Of course, we must wonder who is diverting the funding from education, who is telling the terrified people that their fears are true, that the unknown force is out to get them, and if they simply vote correctly the unknown force will go away, and all that will be left are the things that are familiar, and that youre sure are safe to drink.
