Angel is a brash, persistent Starling with very strong morals, though some don't find his morals to be very good. Angel came from the Southern Sombre Territories, specifcally a town named Mekh(pronounced like 'me-' in 'mechanic' and 'kah' as in 'hookah'), known for it's metalworkers. His father, Wash, worked as a magical Blacksmith, repairing and enchanting armor and weapons for the Sombre army. When the Magistrate invaded Mekh and turned it into Cardemum Township when Angel was merely 9 years old, Wash and Zinnia evacuated themselves and their two children further into the Sombre Territories. During the trek to Lyte, one of the major Sombre cities, Angel's brother, Achilles, succumbed to heatstroke and passed away. Zinnia didn't live much longer after that, though they did manage to make it to a wayward Starling caravan before she passed. Now alone, Wash and Angel had to live roughly to survive. The Magistrate was making a move towards Lyte, and many Starling caravans were being slaughered or demagicked. At twelve, Angel was kidnapped my the Magistrate during a raid on Lyte's slums, and his magic vein was cut. Wash was killed while trying to save him, and Angel was released shortly after. At 14, Angel joined the Sombre forces under an alias, and became a messenger for them. He served the Sombre military up until the very end of the war, by the time he turned 35.

Some describe him to be quite anxious, and in his mind he has reason to be. He tends to get frustrated when things don't go his way, but he can often be convinced to give way due to his underlying insecurity. 'Home' doesn't really exist for Angel, though he's desperate to find it. He's very protective of the few people who have the patience to stick with him, and he'd do nearly anything if it meant that others wouldn't get sick of him. He's very giving, which some may describe as a positive thing, but Angel gives until he destroys himself. He believes in self-sacrifice above everything else, though he never expects others to sacrifice themselves for him. He's good with kids, though parents don't tend to like him. He has a short temper, and he tends to obsess over things, regardless of their importance.
